Can over coloring my hair ruin my natural curls? i have naturally curly hair that has been very uncu

Within the last nine months or so my usually curly hair has been more wavy than curly. I used to have beautiful bouncy, sprial like curls, but now they have no body and and are more kinky (like I've had tight braids in for a long time) than curly. I'm wondering if too many hair color changes could be the culprit.

It depends; a number of things can cause the hair pattern to change it is unlikely that coloring could be the culprit unless your hair seems rather dry unruly and frizzy;if this is more of the problem you should probably use a deep conditioner at least once or twice weekly also ask your stylist not to apply the color root to ends every time you should only be touching up the roots and maybe pull thru the ends the last five to ten minutes with a soap cap. However the change could also be related to any medication changes, recent surgeries with anesthesia hormonal changes such as having babies or getting older

You might need a trim and deep conditioning. That worked for me, but I do find my hair is less curly now than when I was younger.

Any chemical treatment causes some damage every-time it is used. If it is used too much, too often it damages the hair enough to change everything about it.

trim and contidion. It it is really damaged you may need to cut more hair off and condiion more often. Really, with dyed hair conditioning the tips of your hair is a best way to one keep the color longer and two to keep hair healthy.

I am almost 50 year old and have been having my hair colored since I was 12 year old, hairdresser in the family. I have very curly hair. Always have, I myself have never notice my curls changing with hair dyes but different shampoos and conditioners can cause it

i don't think colouring would ruin natural curls , my brothers got curly hair when young but turn straight when older...i thinks its the age....

I had that issue after initially dying my hair once. I have curly hair that forms ringlets and such and after dying it it lost its bounciness (to be honest, I'm not complaining since I don't like curly hair on myself).

To get your hair back to being curly, I found that putting more conditioner in helped as did towel drying my hair (don't rub it or it'll get frizzy, just put it up in the towel so it has a chance to bunch together and curl up before it dries). Either that or let it dry down, but don't blow-dry it.

A trim couldn't hurt either....
