Please explain my weird curly hair phenomena?

ok, I was born with hair straight as a board. no curl whatsoever. I'm 41 and for about 7 years I got spiral perms then about 7years ago, I decided to cut my hair short. So, I did. when it grew back long it curled naturally, like I had a spiral perm and ever since then it has been curly. I want to know how this is possible? what caused it? now 7 years later, I cant make it look straight unless I spend alot of time and energy on it. What gives?

I dont know why this happens to a few lucky ones ( my hair is naturally straight and i spend big money to get curls) a friend of mine when we were little (we were about 6) had this super long hair to her waist and she cut off one of her ponytails so her mom didnt have a choice but to cut it short and it grew back super curly and still is 36 years later

your hair doesnt stay one way forever, when i was younger i had wavey hair, got older,it got cut a lot then went curly and now further on its kinda straight

straight hair that gets permed sometimes stays permanent. even if it's cut.

It could possibly be hormone changes. I've heard that some women's hair changes at puberty or during pregnancy.

I can think of two possibilities. 1. you always had a kind of wavy hair never straight and you moved to a different climate with more humidity. 2. Hormonal changes.

I think I understand your situation. I was born with thick board straight hair, but once I hit puberty, I started cutting really short - that was the style back then... Once I let it grow out, it too was wavy curly. I never permed it before it curled up. Same thing happened to my mother when she hit puberty too. I think that maybe hormonal changes may have caused this - this might be what happened to you as well.
